Mandarin Oriental Mayfair has collaborated with NO Uniform to create Asian-inspired staff wear that’s both funky and functional.

Opened in June 2024, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is a sleek, design-led property situated on historic Hanover Square.

The hotel, located at the cross-section of art, fashion and culture in one of the capital’s most exclusive neighbourhoods, champions these pillars throughout its design.

A perfect example of this commitment to the creative worlds is the hotel’s carefully curated staff uniforms, designed by Nicholas Oakwell, founder of NO Uniform.

Oakwell, working closely with Mandarin Oriental Mayfair general manager Susanne Hatje, has created a uniform collection that is functional, empowering and beautiful.

Balancing the hotel’s rich Asian heritage with contemporary British style, the uniforms showcase a fusion of classic British tailoring offset by Asian influences, including cherry blossom embroidery and kimono-inspired sleeves.

Bartenders sport unique bomber jacket-styled shirts with intricate dragon embroidery, reflecting the hotel’s modern aesthetic.

Sustainability has been a key consideration in the uniform design, with British suiting fabrics and local manufacturing contributing to its eco-friendly credentials.

As reported by EuroNews, the London-based atelier supplies a collection of high-end hotel brands, private residences, restaurants, bars, clubs and corporate institutions all over the world.

NO Uniform has worked with prestigious hotel brands including Claridge’s, Raffles & Fairmont and Rosewood.

“We consider ourselves ‘silent storytellers’ who transform fabric into narratives,” says Oakwell. “The era of customisation and personalisation has dawned, empowering consumers to express their unique identities through their clothing.”
