A floating padel court made from recycled steel has been anchored off Miami's Fisher Island ahead of its permanent home at Rosewood Exuma in the Bahamas.

A unique floating padel court, constructed partially from recycled shipyard steel, has been unveiled in Miami Harbour by investment firm Yntegra Group.

The 84-tonne structure, anchored offshore from Fisher Island, operates without engines or batteries and showcases what the developers call a commitment to sustainable innovation in ultra-luxury experiences.

"The first-of-its-kind court features recycled steel from old shipyard materials, giving new life to maritime components. Its tranquil setting offers a serene escape for both physical activity and mental rejuvenation," says Yntegra Group. 

The facility includes a regulation padel court, protective fencing, light posts and an observation platform. The structure is positioned by boat and then anchored in place, eliminating the need for powered systems.

The floating court will remain in Miami Harbour until next year before being relocated to the Rosewood Exuma hotel in the Bahamas, which is scheduled to open in 2028.

Further recent padel launches in Miami include a court designed by Italian architect Fabio Novembre for Milan's CityLife development.

The project joins a growing trend of floating amenities in urban waterways. In Manhattan, designers have been testing a floating swimming pool concept called +Pool that would also filter water in the East River, says Dezeen.
