Six Senses has unveiled a series of female-focused retreats to address the growing demand for hormone and metabolic health support, with an emphasis on perimenopause and menopause care.
Six Senses is introducing a dedicated women's wellbeing programme across five of its properties in 2025, in partnership with Dr Mindy Pelz, a bestselling author and advocate of holistic wellness approaches.
The initiative offers three, five and seven day retreats focusing on hormone cycles, metabolic health and menopausal transitions.
The programmes, launching at Six Senses Douro Valley, Rome, Kanuhura, Ninh Van Bay and Crans-Montana, combine high-tech diagnostics with holistic treatments.
Each stay begins with a non-invasive Wellness Screening to measure key biometric markers, followed by Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) to track blood sugar levels throughout the guest's stay.
Working alongside Dr Mindy Pelz, the retreats address what the World Economic Forum recognises as a persistent gender health gap, particularly regarding hormone data and accessibility of information about menopause.
"Women have an immense power within themselves," says Anna Bjurstam, Six Senses wellness pioneer. "The Six Senses Female Wellness journey is designed to equip guests with the tools and techniques to regain ownership of their body's natural rhythms through times of change."
The programmes incorporate Six Senses' signature approach to wellness, including optimised sleep environments featuring Naturalmat mattresses and organic bedding. Guests receive complimentary sleep tracking devices, with results analysed during daily reviews.
Dietary support follows the "Eat With Six Senses"principles, emphasising natural, local, and sustainable ingredients. Menus are tailored to support fasting protocols that align with hormonal cycles, while perimenopausal guests alternate between fasting, ketosis, and hormone-stimulating foods.
The three-day programme explores hormonal and metabolic health foundations, while the five-day option delves deeper into factors affecting hormonal balance, mood, and mental clarity. The week-long retreat focuses on establishing long-term connections between fasting, exercise, and hormonal health, with emphasis on metabolic flexibility and detoxification.
"All that I do is about giving women the power back when it comes to their health," explains Dr Pelz. "Often, we take our well-being for granted until we find ourselves in a state of discomfort or imbalance, such as when approaching or going through the menopause."
The programmes will be available year-round for both solo travellers and those visiting as part of a group. Post-retreat support continues through Dr Pelz's Reset Academy forum, with guests having access to educational videos covering topics from hormone cycles to essential lifestyle changes for women over 40.
